REQUIREMENT OF THE USER
The model engineering college required a solution that would allow them to display presentations and conduct video conferences.
CHALLENGES FACED BY THE USER
The major challenge and requirement of the user was for a presentation display that should be large enough to be seen by a large audience, and the video conferencing needed to be able to capture both the stage and off-stage audience.
SOLUTION PROVIDED BY THE TEAM
Based on the challenge three innovative solutions was provided by our “expertise team of engineers”.
The first solution was to find a projector that would be large enough for the presentation display. An Ultra Short Throw projector was initially suggested, but the display size was too small. A Long Throw Projector was then suggested, but it was proved unsatisfactory based on the location it was mounted. We then eventually came up with another solution to fix the projector on the lateral wall which was bit tedious to conclude but then this resulted in desired display output size that met the customer’s expectation.
The next solution was to fix a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera to capture both the on-stage and off-stage audience. A number of mounting location for camera was tested, but none of them were proved satisfactory. We eventually found a spot to fix the camera in a perfect spot after toiling for long hours and this mounting spot was perfect that it was able to capture both audiences without any issues.
The final solution was to connect the audio system, microphone, and amplifier to the laptop via a USB port, but this would have resulted in a cluttered and untidy appearance. We devised a solution to connect all devices to a USB hub, resulting in a more streamlined setup where the user could access them through a single port on the laptop.
CONCLUSION
The team was able to successfully deliver a solution that met all of the college's requirements. The presentation display was large enough and the video conferencing was able to capture both the on-stage and off-stage audience. The customer was also able to use their existing audio system and microphone in an enhanced manner.
